LearningWorks AfterschoolThe LearningWorks Afterschool is a free after school program that serves students in grades 3-5 from Reiche and East End Community Schools in Portland. Staffed with certified teachers, ed techs and many valuable volunteers, the program provides students with extended learning activities in a safe, supportive, and enjoyable environment.
What: A chance to master the basics and explore new experiences after school. Teachers take the best of the school day, add hands-on enrichment activities, resulting in more academic confidence for students.
Program Highlights:
Curriculum: LearningWorks Afterschool collaborates with school-day teaching staff to develop curriculum focused around STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math). The curriculum is designed to be highly engaging, hands on, and relevant to students.
Community Partners: LearningWorks Afterschool collaborates with area partners such as Portland Public Schools, Portland Museum of Art, UMaine Cooperative Extension, Oak Street Art Studios, The Telling Room, Cooking Matters, One Longfellow Square, Mayo Street Arts, and Winter Kids.
