LearningWorks YouthBuild Program to Celebrate the Graduation of 29 Youth
Ceremony to be Held at Deering Oaks on August 20th at 10:00am
(PORTLAND, ME, August 14, 2024) – LearningWorks is proud to announce the graduation of 29 youth from our YouthBuild program. This significant milestone marks the culmination of months of hard work, dedication, and personal growth as these individuals have earned a total of 162 certifications in the construction and culinary/hospitality industries along with completing their HiSET exams. The graduation celebration will be held at the Deering Oaks bandstand on August 20, 2024 at 10:00am, with a rain date of August 22, 2024.
The graduation ceremony will last an hour and include reflections on graduates who hail from 8 different southern Maine communities. LearningWorks YouthBuild will also present the Cole Steeves ‘24 Spirit of YouthBuild Award to the member of each cohort who best exemplifies the 5 core values of YouthBuild: Love, Diversity, Leadership, Collaboration, and Accountability.
Families, friends, and community members are invited to join in celebrating the achievements of these inspiring young individuals. Attendees are asked to bring their own seating. Light refreshments will be provided.

They have all overcome adversity to get where they are today, and we couldn’t be prouder of the work they all put in to get to this point.”

LearningWorks strengthens the communities we serve by providing free, community-based education programs for children, adults, and families throughout southern Maine. Our programs support academic and personal success for learners who lack resources and/or fall outside traditional educational structures.
LearningWorks YouthBuild provides integrated alternative education and occupational skills instruction for unemployed youth who have dropped out of high school with program components that include life skills and leadership development.
