The LearningWorks YouthBuild Farm Dinner & Cookbook Celebration
During the COVID pandemic, we continued our critical work with local teens and young adults who left traditional high school and needed an alternative pathway to graduation and the workforce. With masks on and hearts full of hope, our culinary arts students continued their education at our commercial kitchen, receiving nationally recognized certifications, and preparing for the High School Equivalency Test (HiSET) they need to take the next step into adulthood. Meanwhile, our LWYB students worked with teachers and local photographer Molly Haley to create their own recipes and accompanying essays to tell their stories to the world. We are thrilled to show off our students’ accomplishments and their new cookbook at this event, and to welcome our community to gather in person for the first time since the pandemic.
Please join us on June 9th from 6 to 8 PM at Broadturn Farm in Scarborough, ME for a the launch of a new cookbook created in partnership with our LearningWorks YouthBuild culinary arts students and photographer Molly Haley. Guests will enjoy a student inspired dinner from Lake & Co., drinks, and dessert from Portland Twist. Our event will feature readings of student essays and the announcement of our raffle winner. All proceeds from the event will benefit our free community programs.
